The university will continue to follow all guidance from the State of Illinois and the Adams County Health Department with respect to the COVID-19 pandemic. The university has developed contingency schedules and plans in the event there is a regional resurgence in COVID-19 cases. For the first half of the 2021 spring semester, from late January to the present, there have been four COVID-19 infections at Quincy University. The university is not aware of any active COVID-19 cases on campus. Quincy University and Adams County, Illinois have benefitted this spring from an effective local COVID-19 vaccination plan, readily available testing and declining infection rates. At the same time, Quincy University students and all members of our community have had great success in following guidelines for masking and social distancing.” “With in-person classes, in-person dining, and a limited ability to allow fans and parents at our outdoor athletic events, we are seeing the early signs of a return to greater normalcy on campus. “We continue to learn how to increase opportunities for students, both in and out of the classroom, while emphasizing health and safety,” said McGee. “Our commitment to rely primarily on face-to-face instruction for undergraduates is an essential component of our Success by Design initiative, where every student receives an individualized plan for success and a pathway to complete a degree in four years.” “We are proud of how our university community has responded to the COVID-19 pandemic, with everyone working together to make in-class learning possible,” said Brian McGee, Ph.D., president. As has been the case throughout the pandemic, QU expects to continue teaching in a primarily face-to-face format for the next school year. The university will provide students, faculty and staff with the usual student activities and holidays, including fall and spring breaks. Quincy University has published its 2021-2022 academic calendar, which returns the university to a traditional schedule for the fall and spring semesters. ![]()
